Doctor Search
As a Kern Family Health Care member, you need to choose a Primary Care Practitioner (PCP). Each enrolled family member can choose a different PCP. These are the types of PCPs you can choose from:
- Family and General Practice - care for adults and children
- Internal Medicine - care for adults only
- OB / GYN - care for women only
- Pediatrician - care for children only
You CANNOT choose a Specialist as a PCP. Before scheduling an appointment with a Specialist* you must be referred by your PCP or another approved provider and the referral must be approved by KFHC.
*OB / GYNs (listed as Specialists) and Vision Providers - No provider referral or KFHC approval needed before scheduling an appointment.
Certain hospitals or providers do not provide one or more of the following services that may be covered under your plan contract and that you or your family member might need: family planning; contraceptive services, including emergency contraception; sterilization, including tubal ligation at the time of labor and delivery; infertility treatments; or abortion. You should obtain more information before you enroll. Call your prospective doctor, medical group, independent practice association, or clinic, or call the health plan at 1-800-391-2000 to ensure that you can obtain the health care services that you need.
